LMHA provides consultations to attorneys in various ways.
Education: LMHA can educate attorneys and other professionals about topics like risk for re-offending, mental health evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment options, and also provide individuals with a comprehensive list of resources such as services, interventions.
Preparation for Cross Examination: LMHA consults with attorneys about the forensic mental health evaluation, including review of the quality of the forensic mental health evaluation, and aiding the counsel in preparing for cross-examination of the examiner.
Review of Mental Health Treatment Records: LMHA offers a critical review of mental health records to help uncover important information in the record. After this review, LMHA will then assist in developing a strategy to best utilize the information in court.
